Buying guide

Choosing a ferro chrome grade

High-carbon grades are the most economical source of chromium; low-carbon grades are used where carbon in the melt must be kept down, such as in some stainless and alloy steels. State the chromium content, carbon limit and size range. See also high carbon ferro chrome.

FAQ

Ferro Chrome – FAQ

What do you need to quote ferro chrome?

The grade and element content, impurity limits, lump size, quantity, packing and delivery location or port.

What is the difference between ferro chrome grades?

Mainly the carbon content. High-carbon grades cost less per tonne of chromium; low-carbon grades suit steels with strict carbon limits.
