Induction motors – standard and special duty
Three-phase induction motors in IE2, IE3 and IE4 efficiency classes, plus flameproof, brake, crane duty, slip ring and textile designs.
Eight motor types
Select a type for typical specifications.

IE2 Induction Motors
IE2 high-efficiency three-phase induction motors, foot or flange mounted, for pumps, fans, compressors and general machinery.

IE3 Induction Motors
IE3 premium-efficiency three-phase induction motors that cut energy use on pumps, fans and continuously running drives.

IE4 Induction Motors
IE4 super-premium-efficiency induction motors for the lowest running cost on high-duty drives.

Flameproof Motors
Flameproof (Ex d) induction motors for hazardous areas in chemical, pharma, oil and gas and paint plants.

Brake Motors
Induction motors with built-in electromagnetic brakes for quick, safe stopping and holding of loads.

Crane & Hoist Duty Motors
Crane and hoist duty motors for intermittent duty with frequent starts, reversing and high starting torque.

Slip Ring Motors
Slip ring (wound rotor) induction motors for high starting torque with controlled starting current on heavy loads.

Textile Motors
Induction motors designed for textile machinery: lint-resistant, smooth-running drives for spinning, weaving and processing.
Choosing a motor
Start with the efficiency class: IE3 or IE4 for motors that run long hours, IE2 for low-duty drives where permitted – our article IE2 vs IE3 vs IE4 motors explains the payback. Then match the design to the duty: flameproof motors for hazardous areas, brake motors for drives that must stop and hold, crane duty motors for frequent starts, and slip ring motors for heavy, high-inertia loads.
For a quote, give the kW or HP, speed (poles), voltage, frame size, mounting, enclosure and duty. Pair the motor with a helical gearbox for low-speed drives.
Which efficiency class should I choose?
IE3 or IE4 for motors that run long hours, as the energy saved quickly covers the price difference; IE2 for low-duty applications where permitted.
What details are needed for a motor quote?
kW or HP, speed (poles), voltage, mounting (foot / flange), frame size, enclosure and duty.
