Solar ACDB Panel
The AC distribution box sits between the solar inverters and the grid or building panel. It combines the inverter outputs and provides isolation, MCB/MCCB protection, surge protection and, where required, metering.
ACDBs are sized to the number and rating of inverters and the point of interconnection.

What goes inside a solar ACDB
The ACDB sits between the solar inverter output and the building’s LT panel or the grid connection. It contains an isolator and MCB or MCCB for each inverter, a Type 2 AC surge protective device, and often an energy meter and indicating lamps. For plants with several inverters, the ACDB combines their outputs onto one busbar.
Size the breakers from the inverter AC current and the cable to be terminated, and choose an enclosure rated for the location. On the DC side, see the solar DCDB; for MV evacuation, see the inverter duty transformer. More solar equipment and LT panels.
Where it is used
- Rooftop solar systems
- Ground-mounted plants
- Hybrid solar-DG systems
