Sprockets
Sprockets engage roller chains to transmit motion between shafts. Pitch, number of teeth and bore are chosen to match the chain and the required speed ratio.
Send the part number, dimensions or a photo, and the quantity, for price and availability.
Common types
- Simplex, duplex and triplex
- Taper-lock and pilot bore
- Idler sprockets
Getting the right sprocket
A sprocket must match the chain pitch and number of strands, so start from the chain size (for example 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch pitch). The tooth count on each shaft sets the speed ratio; very small sprockets wear the chain faster. Hardened teeth last longer in dusty or high-load drives. Choose a taper-lock bore for easy fitting, or a pilot bore to be machined to your shaft.
Sprocket drives are common on conveyors and bucket elevators, often after a gearbox. See all engineering products.
