Wire mesh is used as screen cloth on vibrating and rotary screens, and for sieving, filtration and machine guarding. Aperture, wire diameter and material are chosen for the application.

Specifying wire mesh
For screens, specify the aperture (clear opening), the wire diameter, the weave type and the material. Thicker wire lasts longer but reduces open area and throughput; high-carbon steel resists abrasion, while stainless steel suits wet or corrosive duty. Also give the panel size and the hook or tensioning style for your screen.
