IE2 Induction Motors
IE2 is the "high efficiency" class under the IEC 60034-30-1 efficiency standard. IE2 squirrel-cage induction motors are widely used for general-purpose drives such as pumps, fans, blowers and conveyors.
Totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) construction with IP55 protection and Class F insulation makes them suitable for most industrial environments.

When an IE2 motor is the right choice
IE2 is the high-efficiency class under IEC 60034-30-1. It still suits machines that run only a few hours a day, standby pumps, and drives where the motor is part of an older machine design. For motors that run most of the day, the extra energy saved by a higher class usually pays for itself, so compare an IE3 motor or IE4 motor before ordering.

Should I choose IE2 or IE3?
IE3 motors use less energy for the same output and are increasingly required for new installations. For motors that run long hours, the energy saving usually justifies IE3 or higher.
