Design points for wind transformers
A wind turbine transformer rarely runs at a steady load. Output follows the wind, so the unit sees frequent thermal cycling and many energisations, and it may be installed in a tower base, a nacelle or a pad-mounted kiosk exposed to salt and dust. Corrosion protection, sealed tanks and the choice between oil and dry insulation matter.
